Here are the kids all dressed up for Halloween! Ethan is Spidey, Mary is a Princess, Hannah is a fairy from Barbie Fairytopia, Megan is a witch and Katey - uh, the 80's called; they want their stuff back!

Recipes

So I somehow managed to get myself signed up for a recipe exchange. The idea is everybody who participates submits 2 digitally scrapbooked recipes. We should be getting back around 70. I'm so totally excited to get some new ideas for meals. It seems like I keep recycling the same 10 or so recipes so it's time for a change. Now here is the kicker. I have never created a digital scrapbook page before. Ack! So I went over to Amy's house {because she has experience - she created her recipes yesterday!} and I finished mine. I think for a newbie digi scrapper I did pretty good. So feel free to try them, they're both super yummy!

Spider Man Day

First off, yes this is a post about more cupcakes, but there is a good reason. Ethan has been struggling with bedtime so we're working on a reward system. If he goes to bed good for a week he gets to choose a fun activity or a new Hot Wheels car. This past week he chose to bake Spider Man cupcakes with mom. So we headed out to the store to pick up some goodies to make our treats with. While we were at the Dollar Store Ethan saw a Spider Man hat, and how could I say No? I mean it was only a dollar. So we decided to just have a whole "Spider Man Day". We went home and baked and frosted the cupcakes and then delivered some to Hunter, Ava and Lily, because that's what Ethan wanted to do. I'm so lucky to be his Mom!

The Fair

So this past weekend we attended the Brigden Fair. Brigden is a little town about a 15 minute drive from us (where a good chunk of the ward also lives). This year, 2007, is the 157th year of the Brigden Fair. Everyone has told us about the fair and that we HAD to take the kids. So we did. And, well, I was a little underwhelmed. It took us about 6 minutes to walk from one end of the fair grounds to the other. And because we went on the first day we missed all the animal exhibits. But we did get to see the tractors, which made Ethan really happy! We still managed to take a gazillion pictures so be forewarned - a lot of pictures ahead! We bought some tickets and the kids enjoyed a few rides [way overpriced by the way] and then we bought some candy. The we wandered over to the tractors and let the kids climb allover. Probably shouldn't have, but I did get some cute pictures! So here we are enjoying the day. Oh I should add the temperature was around 28 degrees. I still can't believe it's October!

Edited to add: The last two pictures are some random guy climbing a pole! They apparently have a lumberjack competition on Sunday {which we missed cause we were there on Friday, would have liked to have seen it, but watching the Prophet was better I guess!} and they were setting up all the gear and this guy was testing out the pole when we were walking by. I thought it looked cool so I took a couple of shots.

Officially Obsessed

So I am officially obsessed with cupcakes. I have been looking at so many amazing creations and am absolutely stunned by some of the work I've seen. This lady is my favorite by far. She does more than just the mini meals on cupcakes, but theses were too amazing not to share. She creates all of the food with gum paste. I like the roast beef dinner the best. And remember...these are all on top of a CUPCAKE!

More Yumminess

Nothing exciting has been happening around here lately so I have to make my own fun. So I baked some more cup cakes. And you all have to look at them and be sad cause you can't eat them and that makes me laugh...hahah! See how that works. Now I'm having fun! Seriously though, these cup cakes were so much fun to make. The kids all helped me bake, fill and frost {and eat!} Katey said they were too rich though. C'mon it's CHOCOLATE. It's supposed to be rich. These are regular size cuppy-cakes. I filled them with a cream cheese/whip cream filling and frosted them with chocolate ganache and finished them off with an icing swirl. MMM, chocolate heaven. I'll definitely make these again.
