Katey Is A Genius!
OK, Katey totally told me what to title this post! She found this 'totally awesome' website called Smilebox found here http://www.smilebox.com/. You can make slide shows and digital scrapbooks and cards and oh so much fun schtuff. So together we created this slide show of Mary's birthday. I made one for Christmas but the computer ate it. I'll try and find where it hid it and put it up too. Mind you they're no great fantastical wonder, just something to keep us busy on a dull Friday night!

Tag - I'm It
1. WRAPPING PAPER OR GIFT BAGS? Wrapping paper for Christmas, and I guess I'm one of those lazy people Amy is referring to because I usually send my kids to party's with their gifts in a bag.
2. REAL OR FAKE TREE? Real. Christmas is real and so is our tree.
3. WHEN DO YOU PUT UP THE TREE? We try to go out the first Saturday in December and choose our tree, then we decorate it for FHE on Monday night.
4. WHEN DO YOU TAKE THE TREE DOWN? Usually the day after New Year. Megan's birthday is January 6th and I like to decorate with streamers and balloons for that.
5. DO YOU LIKE EGGNOG? GAAACK. Most disgusting stuff ever invented. Sheesh it's made from RAW eggs people! Have you all heard of Salmonella? {Yes I know, I have issues.}
6. FAVORITE GIFT RECEIVED AS A CHILD? Hmm, my Cabbage Patch Kid the year when they were IT or maybe my fake nails in 6th grade, to quote Amy "My Mom and Dad were the BEST present buyers EVER!!" And now Peter has continued the tradition, most recently a pink Kitchen Aide food processor and my kitchen TV/DVD/CD player combo. Love ya honey!
7. DO YOU HAVE A NATIVITY SCENE? A few actually. My Little People set, another set my kids can play with and not destroy and about 2 or 3 others that I've made over the years.
8. HARDEST PERSON TO BUY FOR? This year it's a tie between Katey and Peter.
9.EASIEST PERSON TO BUY FOR? Megan and Hannah
10. WORST CHRISTMAS GIFT YOU EVER RECEIVED? That would be the year that mom and dad got me the same book TWICE. I guess it wasn't the worst gift but I was a little disappointed that year.
11. MAIL OR EMAIL CHRISTMAS CARDS? Umm where am I? What are these "Christmas cards" you speak of?
12. FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE? This is going to sound silly, but my favorite is Arthur's Christmas. Yes Arthur, I said it, as in Arthur from early morning TV. I'm lame.
13. WHEN DO YOU START SHOPPING FOR CHRISTMAS? Usually some time around September and them be done for December 1st. This year I'm right on track, all wrapped and hidden away till Christmas Eve.
14. HAVE YOU EVER RECYCLED A CHRISTMAS PRESENT? No.
15. FAVORITE THING TO EAT AT CHRISTMAS? Quality Street chocolates, Christmas oranges, sausage rolls, and Christmas breakfast. Yum-O

20. ANGEL OR STAR ON THE TREE TOP? Angel. One that Kate made in nursery about 11 years ago. One day it will fall apart and then I have no idea what I'll do, sob!
21. OPEN THE PRESENTS CHRISTMAS EVE OR MORNING? With the exception of new jammies on Christmas Eve, we open on the actual day of Christmas.
22. MOST ANNOYING THING THIS TIME OF YEAR? Those booths in the middle of the mall where people accost you and try to convince you to buy their perfume or remote control ferrets or hair pieces...you get the idea. Grrr.
23. WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT CHRISTMAS? That would be easy. I love Christmas the most! No really I love the decorations and the tree.

Christmas Is HERE!!! {Almost}
Our family tradition dictates that on the first Saturday of December we choose our Christmas tree and then for Family Home Evening we decorate it. But this year because Mary's birthday was on Saturday and crazy weather we've been having we had to postpone it for a few days. We were able to go last night and pick out our tree and after letting it 'rest' for a day we got to decorate it tonight.

Now if I was a really organised and frequent blogger {phhht!} I could have done an "ornament of the day" type of post. But since we all know I'm neither, I decided to share them all tonight. So I apologise if I bored anyone to tears, although at the same time I'm giggling at the thought!

Every year I have wanted to take pictures of all of my special ornaments and put them in a scrapbook. Tonight I started taking pictures and realized "Hmm, they are ALL special to me". So I'll share a few of ALL my ornaments with you.
This was a wedding gift from my friend Emily Reil. It is the first ornament that goes on the tree every year. Peter and I both put it on together. {After that it's pretty much chaos!}
This is Hannah's Hand-A-Clause. All three girls ( Katey, Megan and Hannah) made these. This was in 2000. Might I add - this was when when I only had 3 children and my sanity still intact.

And this is Katey in Grade 3, 2002.

This strawberry is special because it's an ornament we had on the tree when I was growing up. Not sure who made it or when we got it, but I ended up with it!

Mary's Birthday Party
This year Mary had her first 'friends' party. She invited four little girls from school, plus Megan and Hannah. They decorated cupcakes, played "The Princess and the Pea" game {We had 4 cushions and I hid a 'pea' [aka rubber ball] under one cushion and they had to sit on them and figure out where the 'pea' was and then they become a real princess} , there was a Barbie princess pinata, and finally hot dogs, chips and birthday cake for lunch. The girls took home the cupcakes they decorated and a princess tin filled with candies. Here are a few memorable moments from the day.
